Day 8! Weigh In!! 95.1kg

Ok, so just weighed in after Week 1 - 95.1kg! Thats a 2.9kg loss in week 1.

Didn't post yesterday, but it was more of the same diet wise. Should be back in the pool today, 60 lengths, but Im pretty busy today, due to lazyness yesterday, so Im behind with work.

Will see what I can do.

So, next week? 93.5kg would be nice, but as the title of the blog says - 1kg a week is enough. (But make hay whilst the sun shines!)

Day 6!

Last night, I had some minced beef to use up, so I cooked it up with some Prego sauce (Not really allowed, but needed to use the mince). The sauce was waaaay too rich for my liking - when I usually cook with it, I tend to add stuff to it, and do a spicy thai style spaghetti. So I didn't eat most of it.

When my wife Nokk came home, she brought me some grilled peppered pork, so that filled the space in my stomach just nicely.

Today is going well so far. Was up at 6, then worked. I have had water all morning, and scrambled egg with a tomato chopped up in it.

Im about to go to the pool to do my 56 lengths for today, and then get back and continue my work.

Lunch is Boiled chicken with Nokks special Spicy sauce.

Dinner is Tuna salad.

And I have a big bottle of Pepsi Max chilling (0 calories too), and a packet of sugar free fruity gum to fill in the snacking periods of time. :)

I may go out and have a couple of San Mig Lights tonight, but Im not staying up for the footie.

2 more sleeps before the 1 week weigh-in!!

Day 5 Going Well

So thats the weekend out of the way.

I did have some drinkies over the weekend, but Gin and Tonics. I noticed that I drank far more gin and tonic than I would have liked. It just goes down too easily. So someone suggested I look into San Mig Light. Well, the results are in:-

  • Gin and tonic (2 ounces gin, 4 ounces tonic water): 21 carb grams, 178 calories
  • 12-ounce light beer has 5 carb grams and 100 calories. (2 of these is slightly more than 1 Large one here in Thailand (And San Mig specifically is 98calories per small bottle, and only 3.5 carb grams).

So, as Im watching the carbs, and because I drink far more Gin Tonic in the same period of time I would drink a San Mig Light - Im switching to the beer. Suits me better, and will work out at less calories, and much less carbs.

For food over the weekend, I just continued with the norm. Chicken Breasts, Eggs, some veggies, salad, Tuna, with small snacks consisting of salted peanuts, or sundried beef. I had a treat yseterday, as Nokk had bought me a nice bit of Beef from Rimping.

I didn't excercise over the weekend. I was always going to have Sunday off, but on Saturday when I was gearing up to go to the pool, I realised it would be full of those children things, so I decided against it.

Today, been up from 5.30am, and I've had a couple of scrambled eggs and water. Im off to the pool in an hour for my 54 lengths! Then off to Tesco to get something for lunch and dinner and my Coke Zero fix.

3 days till the first weigh in since the start! Fingers crossed! Hoping for better than 1 kg, but we will see.

Day 2 - July 2nd

Hello! It occurred to me yesterday, that I had forgotten to write about the day before my diet began - June 30th.

I went out to get my old motorbike fixed. I then took it to be cleaned. Whilst it was being cleaned, I stopped for a Coke at the grocery shop there, that I hadn't been to in a while. The lady took one look at me, and said "Oh, you're fat now!" in only the innocent way a Thai can. I then went on to get the oil changed in it, and whilst that was being done, my friend, the village Head, stopped his chopper to say Hi to me. Oh, and to tell me I looked Fat now. He slapped me on the back, and went on his way. The bike all done, I stopped off at the moo bahn grocery shop to get some cigarettes, and the lady in there...... yes, you guessed it. "Phil Oowan na?" (Phil, Fat huh?). So, had I not been planning to start my diet on the 1st July, I sure as Sh!t would have started one on the 1st July anyway!! +55

Anyway, back to the update. I ended up eating chicken breast for lunch yesterday after I got back from swimming 50 lengths of moo bahn pool. This was when my carb craving started already! I didn't give in to the cravings though.

A little later, I went out to get some sun dried beef. No carb there, and its ideal for a little snack when the cravings kick in.

I made myseld Laab Moo for dinner (With Fresh Cabbage to wrap it in, instead of having rice), as the night out with Rich was cancelled. So that also meant I had no alcohol yesterday.

So for drinks yesterday - 0 calories! YAY!

July 2nd

So far today:-

Water/Coke Zero
Chewed a little bit of sundried beef when I first got up, then made scrambled eggs with just eggs, no oil, no butter, no milk. Just seasoned eggs. All done in 2 minutes in the microwave.

I went to the pool at about 11.15, and just got back (Its now about 12.30). Today I did 52 lengths. I will build it by 2 lengths a day.

For Lunch I've got some skinless chicken breast I have marinading in the fridge in Pepper, Garlic and a little Lime juice to break it down. I will eat that with the chilli dip Nokk made for her lunch.

I did weigh myself just before swimming, but I wont say what that was. It fluctuates on a day to day basis, so daily weigh ins is a bad idea. But today it was encouraging! I will have to avoid the scales until the weigh in and photo next Thursday.

Take it easy,

Phil

The time is here! Starting Weight 98KG!

Oh my god. Didn't really think it through when I said I'd put pics up here. Shamed indeed.

98.0 KG is the starting weight.

Today I got up, had a bottle of water, 2 Boiled Eggs, and am now enjoying a bottle of Coke Zero.

Just going through all my work, then will nip to the Pool for my first excercise session. Aiming for 50 lengths today, then ramp it up to 100 slowly.

First couple of weeks will be Swimming only, then will start cycling once Im used to the excercise!

Not sure what Im having for lunch, probably some grilled chicken and steamed veg.

Tonight we're off to The Isaan Restaurant with Richard, so thats good no carb food for me there. Not sure what I can drink though, as Im now off the Beer. Maybe San Miguel Light if they have it. If not, its water!

Will update again tomorrow. The progress pics will be weekly on Thursdays with the weigh ins.

Monday 28 June 2010

Thursday 1st July - It all begins!

The date for my wedding ceremony is closing in on me, but so is the waist of my jeans and shorts.

Time for drastic action!

Over the next few months before the big day on the 10th October, I will be attempting to shed 1KG a week, so that I look a little lighter and more healthy for the ceremony.

Here is how Im hopefully going to do it:-

(1) Daily Drinks - I'm switching from Milk and Pepsi to water and Coke Zero.
(2) Nighttime Drinks - I'm switching from a more regular Beer night out, to a less regular Gin and Tonic night out (watering down the tonic with a little Soda water - every calory counts!)
(3) Eating - Apparantly McDonalds Breakfast Double Sausage and Egg Burgers, KFC Buckets, Platefuls of sandwiches piled with Mayo, Chips Cheese and Gravy etc, are all not so good for you. So I will be switching to a low low Carb diet. Mainly will be scrambled eggs or boiled in the morning, a salad with Grilled Chicken for lunch, and a homemade vegetable soup or more grilled meat and broccolli for dinner. Snacks will be small bag of peanuts etc.
(4) Excercise - Im switching back to the tried and tested method I used last time I lost 20kg. Swimming Laps one day, and then Cycling for an hour the day after. Every day of the week, apart from Sunday - Day of rest (Sunday is also my day for eating some fresh fruit).

I am hoping that all of the above will add up to a weight loss of 1kg + each week.

What do I weigh now? Well Im not starting it today, so Im not telling yet.

Fat Phil Topless Picture to come on Thursday (Shame myself into weight loss too!), along with my starting weight. I'll be weighing each Thursday, and posting here. I will also blog each day to say how it is going, and how my moods change etc etc.

Words of encouragement always welcomed! :)
